Heads Up !AUSTIN, Texas — With freezing temperatures in the forecast across the state, ERCOT – the Electric Reliability Council of Texas – has issued a Weather Watch for later this week.
The Weather Watch was issued for Wednesday, Feb. 19 through Friday, Feb. 21. ERCOT said because of the cold weather expected across the state, there will be higher electrical demand and the potential for lower reserves.
Even with the colder temperatures, ERCOT said grid conditions are expected to be normal. A Weather Watch is not a call for conservation. It’s an advance notification that weather conditions could drive usage up.
ERCOT is encouraging people to keep tabs on the grid during this cold snap. You can keep up with supply and demand on their website.
