School delays and closings Tuesday in central Ohio


The blast of cold air that arrived Sunday will stick around most of the week, along with a few chances of snow (depending on where you live).

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Several school districts in central Ohio have delayed start times Tuesday morning because of wind chills near 0 degrees and slick conditions from snow this past weekend.

Several central Ohio counties are still under a snow emergency after heavy rain and snow moved through the area on Sunday, creating slick conditions for sidewalks, parking lots and some roads. You can find the full list of snow emergencies here.

Some of the schools that have announced closings or delays for Tuesday include:

  • Bellefontaine City Schools – 2 HOUR DELAY
  • Benjamin Logan Local Schools – 2 HOUR DELAY
  • Buckeye Central Local Schools – 2 HOUR DELAY
  • Fairbanks Local Schools – 2 HOUR DELAY
  • Indian Lake Local Schools – 2 HOUR DELAY
  • New Lexington City Schools – 2 HOUR DELAY
  • North Union Local Schools – 2 HOUR DELAY
  • Northeastern Local School District – 2 HOUR DELAY
  • Northmor Local Schools – 2 HOUR DELAY
  • Ridgedale Local Schools – 2 HOUR DELAY
  • Ridgemont Local Schools – 2 HOUR DELAY
  • Ridgewood Local Schools – 2 HOUR DELAY
  • River Valley Local Schools – 2 HOUR DELAY
  • Simon Kenton School – CLOSED
  • Upper Scioto Valley Local Schools – 2 HOUR DELAY
  • Urbana City Schools – 2 HOUR DELAY

While many of us saw plenty of sunshine Monday, it was brutally cold & windy. With temperatures only in the teens, wind chills stayed in the single digits most of the day. On Tuesday, we’ll see wind chills near 0 degrees in the morning.

Then, we turn our forecast attention to tracking some snow for central Ohio, with some light accumulation possible. The best chance for us to see snow will be late Wednesday and into Thursday, with any accumulation expected to be around 1″ or less.
