NFL insider says everyone sees receiver DK Metcalf heading to one team

The DK Metcalf and New England Patriots talk has continued to heat up with free agency only days away.

Metcalf requested a trade from the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday, and the team agreed to explore options on a potential move. When appearing on “The Pat McAfee Show,” NFL insider Daniel Jeremiah indicated that many in the league believe the two-time Pro Bowl receiver is headed to the Patriots.

“Everybody is saying DK to New England, man. Everybody in the league thinks this,” said Jeremiah. “DK comes available, and you just talk to a bunch of buddies around the league, and they’re like, ‘That just makes too much sense. They have all of the money. They have all of the space. They have no weapons—the high second-round pick.”

Metcalf would give the Patriots a true No. 1 wide receiving option. He tallied 66 receptions for 992 yards and five touchdowns in 2024, after posting back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.

Addressing the wide receiver position right out of the gates would knock down one major domino for a rebuilding Patriots team with needs at a multitude of different spots. They have the money to make Metcalf one of the highest-paid receivers in the league, while also forking over the desirable trade compensation it would take to get him from the Seahawks.

Whether a deal actually gets done or not, however, remains to be seen.
